Preparing the Table

It is hard to believe that it is October. It has been a month since our training at the farm. Feels like yesterday and a lifetime all at once. The 6 people that traveled to the farm for that class are the most amazing people. My heart would love to have all of you join us around the table for one of these classes and have a chance to fellowship with the people I have the pleasure of hosting. It is magical. People from all different backgrounds, ages and regions, sit down and are instantly a family. Laughing, sharing, loving, passing the gravy. The best family Thanksgiving feeling, where everyone is at the big kids table and the mash potatoes are perfect. The love of the Lord is what connects us at first, but by the end of our few short days together, we are truly family. Cracking jokes, sharing tears, passing bread! It is just magical. I think that is what God intended when he created meals and our need for food. It is a bridge that brings us all together.

The Lord is still using that common thread of the need for food to bring people to himself. The communities that Equipping Farmers International has the pleasure to serve, are in need of food. Through our class the Lord shows them that they have a need for much more. He gives them food and introduces them to himself, the bread of life. He invites them to the family table. Is that what heaven is going to be like, one big table? If our little farm house table is just a small picture of that, and I think our table is magical, oh Lord I cant imagine the meal you have prepared for us all.

Equipping Farmers International is helping to prepare the table all over the world. Trainings happened this month in Indonesia, Angola, and the United States, just to name a few. By the end of 2025 EFI is praying to have trained over 5,000 trainers. Who we pray will go out and train at least 10 people. That is a lot of tables the Lord is preparing.

Below are a couple pictures of from the training. Our thermal compost is breaking down great and the turnips are growing great.

The month of October is going to be a busy one for me and praise the Lord, through your partnership, I have enough money to make the travel possible. I will be going to Florida another training, this will complete our North America trainings for 2025. If you did not get a chance to attend, we are already at work on the 2026 training schedule and I will share that once it is complete.

On The Farm: The month of October also is a transition time on the farm, we are preparing for cooler weather, most of our crops are done and we are putting the garden to bed. We do still have several beds in production and they will get their “winter blankets” preparing for the first frost. We will also be taking our chickens to butcher. These chickens will feed our family for the next year. The turkeys and pigs will continue to grow and we spoil them rotten while they are here. We are blessed that these turkeys love bugs and we will be moving them through the fields to help control ticks and keep bug levels in check. The pigs are going to be strategically moved through the farm to eat the thistle roots. They enjoy the tender roots and the thistle has gotten out of control. We are thankful that the dance of the farm continues as the seasons change, sometimes the song and tempo changes. God is present in the change. Throughout the cycles of the farm, God is preparing a table for us, he provides the food we eat in season. It is a blessing, I am thankful for the farming giving me a direct connection to the creator and his provision.

Our Current Prayer Needs:

We are praying for continued support as we plan the trainings for next year. I feel as if I am pushing back against a flood gate, trying to hold it shut. There are many people interested in training and what Equipping Farmers International is doing. I am praying to have wisdom when planning the schedule for next year to leave room for what the Lord has planned. Currently, we have 3 training locations within North America, I am praying that the Lord shows us where he would like additional training locations to be, with partner organizations able to help with the trainings.

Thank you again for your prayers and support. I appreciate you coming along with me on this journey.

A wife and mother of two. My husband and children have Celiac's disease so I am very concerned about where our food comes from. This has motivated me to grow as much of our food as possible, leading us to own a farm. The love of the Lord and farming has led me to work with Equipping Farmers International. What if the Church could feed itself and the world?

  1. We began each day making the intention to pray for some part of the world that needs our prayers. One of the last questions for reflection invited us to ponder: “What parts of the world cry out especially for the transformation EFI can offer through their contemplative presence?”
